Southeast University (SEU) is a prestigious institution of higher learning renowned both at home and abroad. As one of the national key universities directly subordinate to the Ministry of Education of China and jointly established with Jiangsu Province, it is also listed as one of the universities involved in National “985 Project” “211 Project”. In 2017, SEU was ranked on the list of constructing “Class A first-rate world universities”.
Although Southeast University has made great progress in recent years, the shortage of funds has always been the bottleneck of its construction. Alma mater is always the spiritual home of alumni, they always donate money, give advices and suggestions in order to nurture and repay their alma mater.
Southeast University Education Foundation USA is a nonprofit public benefit organization，was founded in California in January 2020. It is organized for charitable and educational purposes within the meaning of Section 501 (c) (3), aims to strengthen the contact and cooperation with overseas alumni, raise social resources and serve the school management philosophy of “being renowned for science and serving the country with talents”. It is expected to provide strong support to develop SEU to be a world-ranking university. The foundation was proposed by Huang Dawei, the vice president of Southeast University and the executive vice president of Southeast University Education Foundation, and initiated by Rui Zhenhua, the deputy director of Southeast University Development Council and the secretary-general of Southeast University Education Foundation, co-created by them and four overseas board members-- Xu Yiping, Xia Haitao, Chen Guoying and Pan Ye.
The fund is used to support Southeast University in talents cultivation, academic research, faculty development, international development, campus construction etc. For the specific purpose of donation, the fund can be used according to the donor's wishes.The foundation has received great attention and support from alumni and friends. Some projects are under discussion and will be implemented in the near future.
