NANJING, Oct.18 (Wang Chen) Recently, Huang Dawei, Vice President of Southeast University, Executive Vice President of the Alumni Association, and Executive Vice President of the Education Foundation, led a delegation to the United States to participate in the 2023 Annual Meeting of the Chinese American Semiconductor Association (CASPA), to meet with local alumni and to discuss and exchange ideas with alumni representatives. The Development Committee of Southeast University, the person in charge of the Asset Management Department and the International Cooperation Department accompanied the delegation.
In San Francisco, the delegation attended the Chinese American Semiconductor Association 2023 Annual Meeting and the dinner. During the meeting, the delegation exchanged views with representatives from Stanford University’s Office of Technology Transfer (OTL) on the transformation of scientific and technological achievements. During the dinner, Huang Dawei met with alumni including Xia Haitao, President of the Chinese American Semiconductor Association, as well as Huang Renxun, Founder and CEO of NVIDIA.
In the symposium of Southeast University Silicon Valley Alumni Association, Huang Dawei greeted the alumni working and studying in Silicon Valley and introduced the recent development of the university to the alumni, who recalled and shared their study experience in Southeast University and their achievements in their respective industries. The delegation also discussed with the alumni about the differences and feasibility of the transformation of scientific and technological achievements between China and the United States. Huang Dawei presented a calligraphy work of the university motto to the President of the Silicon Valley Alumni Association, Guan Heng, and encouraged the alumni to uphold the spirit of the university motto and constantly improve their career development.
In New York, the delegation attended the offline and online symposium organized by Southeast University Greater New York Alumni Association on the campus of Columbia University. Huang Dawei greeted the alumni in the New York area in his speech and introduced in detail the recent situation of the university and the work of the Alumni Association and Education Foundation. Zhang Shiming, former president of New York Alumni Association, and alumni representatives shared their career development experiences in the United States. Yu Yougen, Educational Counselor of the Consulate General in New York, and two consuls of the Education Section attended the symposium together.
In Boston, the delegation paid a visit Dr. Li Jiaqiang, founder of 1Globe Biomedical, a distinguished alumnus. Dr. Li gave a touching recollection of his schooling experience at Southeast University School of Medicine and his deep roots in his beloved medical research. Huang Dawei conducted in-depth discussion with Dr. Li on the implementation details of the construction plan for the Medical Technology and Engineering Institute of Southeast University.
The delegation also paid a visit to Zhu Zhengdong and his wife, the chairman of Zhengbao Education, who were distinguished alumni. Huang Dawei presented a calligraphy work to them on behalf of the University. Pan Ye, President of Boston Alumni Association, accompanied the delegation on the visit.
